New Moon....

**SPOILERS!** Really, if you haven't seen New Moon yet there is a problem. You are obsessed enough to visit our little blog about nothing but Twilight crap??? Then you should have seen the movie by now...if you haven't and don't want anything spoiled...look away now...you've been warned!

OK...so was November 19th-20th as good for you as it was for us? We are still walking around in a daze. Yes, Thursday, November 19th has been marked on our calendars (in RED sharpie) since the date was announced earlier this year. Karen, myself, and our friend Shawnna all decided it was a holiday and took the day off work (luckily we are all self-employed, so no boss-type person could say no!) So the three of us, along with my oldest daughter and our VIP guest (Pocket Edward of course!) heading out about noon. Well, we planned to head out around noon, but you know how PE is about his hair. He kept going on and on about everyone expecting the bouffant to be perfect...he is THE TALENT after all...so we actually left our houses around 1pm. We then proceeded to drive about 45 minutes to a neighboring town that has much nicer movie theatres than ours does. Now mind you, on most occasions, for MOST movies...I find our local cinema to be adequate. Its close....its pretty cheap comparatively...and while not wonderfully clean and beautiful, its not hideous. It just looks like a few teenagers run it...hell, they probably do... But no, we bought our tickets (months in advance, natch) to a much nicer place with huge stadium seating, top quality HD pictures, and a REAL cleaning crew. Nothing is too good for PE after all.

So we arrive at our destination to pick up our pre-purchased tickets and discover that at the last minute our theatre has decided to add Twilight at 9pm as a double feature...and if you buy those tickets also you can just stay in your seat for New Moon. Well, PE loved that idea...an extra 2 hours of him...and less time squatting on the marble lobby floors in line. SCORE!

As no one was lining up quite yet, we all decided to eat some yummy yummy fajitas at Pappasitos...and we didn't protest when PE suggested a margarita either! Just one! No tipsy time when we have a movie to obsess over! And if we are all going to feel a little embarrassed by our custom designed, New Moon themed, swarovski crystal encrusted Tshirts...we might as well make it complete...SO, we went over to the mall and had our pictures taken with Santa. He didn't seem to mind that four women wanted to sit in his lap and hug up to him at all...imagine that. The only thing that made me feel just awful was that in our haste...we forgot PE! How could we??? He wouldn't speak to us for hours.

So this post just seems to be growing exponentially! SORRY...for the sake of brevity...we got in line at about 5pm...by 8pm they had us seated...we watched Twilight ( was great to see it on the big screen again!)...had a brief intermission...and the audience fell silent....

A few romantic movie previews came up, most notably was the trailer for Remember Me...with RPattz...wow...had no interest when I first heard about it, but now I can't wait to see it. Then...finally...the summit logo appears...wearing its "new moon" colored garb...no blue tints this time..not even on their name! Then a moon slowly appears...and the audience erupted into applause.

So what did we think of the movie? We loved it. We've actually already seen it again, and plan on going a third time on Thanksgiving. It is not perfect. It does not deserve an Oscar. Some things bugged me...but I did love it. This is amazing considering it is my least favorite book. I am a complete TEAM EDWARD girl....so this book killed me. In fact my shirt read "I survived over 300 pages without Edward...I can do anything." But....I loved it. Karen loved it. Shawnna loved it. Kayla loved it. Here is a breakdown of what we loved about it:

1. KStew has mad skills. No more crazy stuttering and eye blinking like in Twilight. She was Bella. I believed her. She loves Edward with every fiber of her being. She dies when he leaves her. She adores Jake...wants and tries to be what he wants of her...what she knows is best for her...but can't. She risks anything and everything to save Edward. I just believed her.

2.Edward is hot. Seriously.... ok so he looks way too old to be in high school....and the contacts were a little overdone, no one could look at those eyes and think "human"...much less that the whole family possesses the same eyes though they are supposed to be unrelated. Oh yea...his clothes kinda sucked...but WHO CARES! He is total eye candy. At least he doesn't make me feel guilty either because he does look like an adult. The 50-ish year old lady next to me was dying over Taylor Lautner! Really? Lady he could be your grandson! He is CHILD...a freakishly muscled child...but a CHILD !!!

3. I'll admit it though...child or not...Taylor did a great job as Jacob. Just as with Bella...I believed. I'm not even a little teeny weeny bit Team Jacob...but he was very convincing in his role and I was happily surprised by this. In the first one I kept thinking there was no way he could pull of a believable chemistry with Kristen..but he did. The seemed to genuinely like each other. Not heat, like with Rob, but good warmth.

4. The production values were so much better. This felt like a REAL movie, not some indie shot with my Mom's camcorder.

5. Everyone's acting was better than in Twilight...some even exceptionally so. And the humor they interjected was great.

6. The warm coloring was beautiful...never a fan of that blue tint.

7. The music rocks...it was perfect...

8. The breakup was heart wrenching. I cried...and I never cry in movies. Shawnna and Karen cried too. Harder when we saw her in a near comatose state after he was gone than even during the initial leaving. And when you see her alone at their table...*sniffle* As much as I hated her screaming nightmares in the trailer...in the movie they worked.

9. The action was much better. Loved the fight in the volturi lair. Poor Ed!...hated it for him...but loved when his face literally cracked. Awesome detail I never imagined.

10. The proposal...sigh....perfect perfect way to end it...

Okay..so as previously stated...I do have a few problems with the movie too.

1. Wardrobe...already mentioned Ed's old man clothes...but Alice? Really? THAT is high fashion? I love fashion police, project runway, the Style network....I know Dolce and Gabana, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, etc etc etc...and that crap was NOT fashion forward. Where was my Alice's real wardrobe?! Edgy and high end...tres chic....NOT! They made a beautiful girl look crappy. Bella outshone her in every scene together. And Alice's acting is a little grating too...just sayin'....

2. The wolfpack...ugh...Taylor was a good Jacob, but those other guys...not so much. Especially Sam Uley...not at all what I pictures...not a great actor and not great looking either. The rest of the pack, minus Paul, looked like little boys too...and not with the great bods we expected. Didn't bother me too bad though since I am so NOT a dog person anyway.

3. When Sam did his cliff diving scene it was cringe-worthy. WTH...that CGI scene sucked bad. An animated scene would have looked more realistic. Bella's jump wasn't awesome, but it was way better than Sam's.

4. The big wolves were pretty good...but not quite as ferocious looking as I would have liked.

5. ok...so when Bella runs through the fountain and jumps up against Edward...where was the kiss? We all saw it when they shot the scene over and over in Italy last May...Where was the big reunion kiss????? Even if I was still under the illusion he didn't want me...I would have jumped up and planted one on him when I finally saw him again after feeling dead for so many months!! That kiss was so good too! Why oh why did they cut it?? Instead they have to go inside..talk it all out...and then finally kiss...and not nearly as hot as the other kiss was! UGH!!! He's gone the whole middle of the movie! Give us a reunion worth cheering over!!!

6. OMG...the vision...Really? You finally get turned into a beautiful vampire and you decide to wear a Jessica McClintock prom dress from the 80's? They looked like they stepped out of Little House on the Praire or something. And lets be honest...RPattz can't run. He looks almost handicapped. Why couldn't we see a close up of him...looking at her and then when she turns...and we see a close up of her golden ( or red if you prefer) eyes and sparkly skin...looking beautiful and dangerous. See...they should hire me as a consult on these movies...I'd work for free...

Okay...this post was way too long and I am exhausted! MUST SLEEP! going on a kindergarten field trip tomorrow with my youngest..ugh...but hope you liked my lengthy opinions...send me yours!!!

NITE!

Ed gets his portrait painted...

Ok...so Karen's son is way talented right?? Look what he painted for me! Oh yea..you know you want one too!! And I'm going to buy me a 16x20 frame for that bad boy tomorrow! It is so going up in my home office...on the wall adjacent to the computer, and next to what my hubby refers to as my "shelf of shame". I'm sure you can guess why....

Yep...it is covered with all my twilight crap. The books, natch...but also EVERY stinkin' magazine that has ever made even the most obscure reference to anything "twilight-y". And 6 boxes of Sweethearts candy...(the 3 from Twilight...and the 3 from New Moon)...plus those nasty chocolate New Moon candies...all three designs...bookmars, pins, Twicon badge, Pocket Edward, Ray Ban Pocket Edward, Hideous Bella...and my latest aquisitions....NM PE, NM Butch Bella, Neanderthal Pocket Jacob, and even Trannie Alice...

And there's even more...but I think you get the picture...

Oh..and btw...I was so terribly jealous because Karen owned full size Edward cutout...and if you recall we even bought one recently for our friend Shawnna's birthday...but what about me! WAH! I wanted one too! So Karen ordered me my own NM full size ED cutout...and he now resides in my office too...next to the "shelf of shame"...looking over my shoulder...and scaring the crap out of me on a regular basis...

i need help....

Pocket Edward...and Vampire Bella

Halloween is a much anticipated holiday around my house. Not only do my kids love an excuse to wear a costume (IN PUBLIC !!)...but I also managing to raise 3 serious candy-aholics. As my hubby is actually worse than all three kids put together, I am quite sure his DNA is at fault.

So my oldest should have decided to be Bella this year. Lets face it...Mommy has spent a small fortune recently on "Bella - New Moon" clothes for her parody. But of course that would be asking too much...she was going to a Halloween event known around here as "Boo on the Boardwalk"...with a group of several friends...and Bella just wasn't a cool costume. Not enough skin showing apparently. Why is it every adult sized costume has to look like its for a hooker? You can be a "pirate" hooker...or a "baseball player/hooker"...or a "nurse" hooker...etc etc etc...So we let her pick out a costume like her friends...and then proceeded to make her wear a tank top under it to prevent too much cleavage showing...and leggings underneath because the skirt seemed too short to me. Sounds harsh...I know...but she is only 17! We weren't with her...so we hope her costume kept its alterations...but I reiterate...we were NOT with her! ha ha!

Now my 11 yr. old son wanted to be a Jawa...from Star Wars...the original, natch...I raised him right!! Oh yes...I'll admit it...I am one of those Star Wars nerds too...I will even admit to being about 5 or 6 when the original came out...and I loved my Princess Leia dress (a white cocktail dress I stole from my Grandmother's closet!) and my mom would wrap my long hair in what basically equalled to two cinnamon buns on the sides of my head. And the cardboard tube from a roll a wrapping paper was one AWESOME light saber. See...my nerd days started long before Twilight.

Now...on to the real point of this long entry...my youngest...my beautiful 5 year old baby girl. As I have stated many times previously...I have ruined her. She is obsessed with all things Twilight. She has the poster...sleeps on the pillow...carries around the doll...watches the movie almost every day...and now even makes up twilight themed sentences for her school spelling words. She is only in Kindergarten, so they are simple words. For example...her word was "is"...her sentence was "Edward IS hot." Her word was "said" so her sentence was about her friend Megan...sorta..."Megan SAID Edward is hot." This seems very wrong to me! ha!

So of course it came as no surprise to any of us that she wanted to be Bella for Halloween. But really...what would we do for this costume?? Bella is just a human with a penchant for plaid! Would anyone even know she was in costume if she wore jeans, keds, a headband, and flannel shirt? Probably not...so I tried hard to convince her to be something else. We went to Target...Walmart...and several Halloween stores trying to find something else for her to wear. She was adamant though..she had to be Bella. So then I had a great idea...I told her she could be "Vampire Bella"...after all we had seen lots and lots of vampire costumes. Her first response was "NO! Bella is NOT a vampire like Edward!" So I told her, BUT Bella becomes a vampire...later...book four! Wow! Thats all it took. She was ready to go pick out a vampire costume immediately. So we found a "vampire fairy"...wings and all...and she loved it. She said she didn't need the plastic fangs of course...because our kind of vamps don't have fangs...and of course we had to liberally apply body glitter! We MUST sparkle in the sunlight! And the final touch, was Edward himself...as her date...she did try to convince her Daddy to dress up as Edward, but he has about had it with all our swooning over our fave vamp lately and he refused...so Pocket Edward was her escort. She even hung him on the side of her pink pumpkin while trick or treating. She later told me he was actually better than having Daddy be Edward...after all...Daddy is the candy-aholic remember...PE was no threat to her stash!!

New Moon Parody - Day ONE !

ok...so today we started shooting scenes for the parody. Seriously...we are NOT movie producers! We probably have 2 hours of bloopers for every 5 minutes of accurate dialog! OH WELL! We had so much fun! We filmed the "Grand Theft Auto" scene first where Alice steals the yellow porsche (ha! we used Karen's husbands ATV!) and they drive off through the Italian countryside...or Karen's neighborhood...whatever....

So here's candid shots of "Bella" and "Alice" in their "HOT" vehicle!

BE SAFE !!!

Okay...so I am currently re-reading Breaking Dawn. I should LOVE it. It is everything I thought I wanted. My criteria (post Eclipse, while counting down the days to Breaking Dawn's release) for the perfect ending...to my perfect book series was:

1. Bella must choose Edward (duh)

2. Bella must become a Vampire

3. Jacob must somehow permanently be out of their relationship

4. None of the major characters can die, but the issues with the Volturi must be resolved.

So...I got what I wanted right. My perfect happily ever after? So why did I feel less than satisfied? In fairness, Karen LOVES Breaking Dawn. Runs a close race with Twilight as her favorite in fact. My Mom LOVES it. My daughter LOVES it. I get it...some people LOVE it. I just can't. I was very disappointed upon its first "read". But I was disappointed the first time I saw Twilight on the big screen too. Not greatly, but somewhat. It should have been so much more (thats a topic for another day!)...but I did find that it really grew on me. I now watch the movie and silently, mentally, block out the things that bother me, and use it to remember my basic love of the story. Plus, as previously mentioned...the actors are pretty easy on the eyes...I feel the same about Breaking Dawn. I truly enjoy reading it. Some of it I absolutely LOVE, and I can choose to ignore the things I don't love. My biggest hangup with the story was the kid. And this shocked me. I am a major "kid" person. I love my children, but really I love all kids. I always wanted a big house full of children. I loved to babysit when I was younger. I love my job because I get to hold and play with so many newborn babies and funny kids. I was hurt, while reading these stories, that Bella would never have children because of her choice to be with Edward. So I feel like I SHOULD have loved that Stephenie found a loop hole. She gave me the one thing that my happy ending truly needed. But instead, it bothered me. Not that I wasn't fascinated with the notion of this "remarkable" child. I was, but her existence went beyond the rules that had been set for this fantasy world. All good fiction must have parameters. If you create your own world, this fantasy world still has to have rules that guide it. I know you must suspend belief to accept that there are vampires and werewolves, but this stretched my ability to "believe" too far. I won't go into a long, scientifical explanation...but this conception should not have been possible. I have read Stephenie's explanation of "how"...still doesnt' ring true to me. Funny I know..since this whole world isn't "real" anyway...but whatever...

Anyhoo....don't know how anyone else feels about this...my friends laugh at my stubborn streak about it! Oh well, I LOVE Twilight, LOVE New Moon (beginning and end with Edward only...Jacob parts are something I sort of "push" myself through), LOVE Eclipse (except where she kisses that dog...how could she??), and really LIKE Breaking Dawn(although there are parts I truly love...again..NOT the Jacob parts! ha ha!!) How do you guys feel??

oh..and btw...hope our little picture we took doesn't offend anyone..we thought it was HILARIOUS!!! but we are pretty warped...just sayin'....

Random Random Random...

Okay...so just came across this picture I took this summer at one of our stops on the way to Colorado. Thought it was cute..wish I had some really funny story to go along with. No such luck. The only thing I can tell you is my oldest daughter was freaking out that someone would see me pulling the doll out of my purse and taking its picture with the sign...and my Mom was encouraging me..."Oh honey...no one knows who you are here. Just take the picture. Karen will be proud of you." And so...I took the picture.

Edward feels right at home...

So , once again...this is an old one from this summer...from our Colorado vacay...but had to share! How cute is it we found an "Edward" sign? Little Pocket Edward was thrilled...because lets face it...the name has fallen out of fashion over the past couple of decades. Since he is over a century old, it is a perfectly reasonable name for him...but finding personalized stuff doesn't happen that often nowadays!

And I must say...he LOVED how we travel in style. So hard to fly places you know...you have to time it JUST right. Imagine you land in the middle of the afternoon? How do you sneak a little sparkly man out of the terminal without everyone noticing? Or what if you don't get the window seat on a daytime flight? You know your neighbor will insist on raising that plastic window shade...the rays will fall across our glittery little Ed...and the gig us up... So we travel caravan style with out family...Motor Homes and Travel Trailers...complete privacy...just like those vamps like it...

Parody Update

Okay...just trying to keep everyone updated on the progress of the New Moon Parody.
THE SCRIPT IS COMPLETE !!! Yay!!!
We think we finally crafted a short spoof that picks up all the key plot lines, injects a little humor, and should only be about 10-15 minutes...we hope! Ha! There are 12 short scenes...only about a page to a page and a half long...a couple of them are only half a page...and they say you should calculate about a minute a page on a script. They will start rehearsing soon. Still waiting on a couple of the wigs, and a couple of the outfits we ordered to come in. Especially Bella's dress for the birthday party...it is being made so it takes a little longer. Trying to decide if it is worth it to order the contacts...they are pretty pricey when you need so many...will they even be noticeable?? We've confirmed all our filming locations too! So that's our progress report for now! Stay tuned....

Welcome to the Dark Side

So Karen and I have a friend, whom we adore to no end, that also loves Twilight. Now she is not quite as crazy about it as we are (or so she tells us! Ha!)...and she does try very hard to keep her obsession under much tighter control then we do. She has read the books and watched the movie, obviously. She enjoys when I keep her up to date on the current "twilight news". She is going with us to the November 20th midnight release of New Moon. But she did get a little embarrassed when Karen gave her a twilight vinyl sticker from Etsy and insisted that she put it on her laptop at work. She obliged, but not whole-heartedly like I did! So our friend turned 30 this past weekend...(BABY!)...and she was NOT happy about it. She's not big on surprises either. But you don't really think we let that stop us, do you??? No way....

So we ordered a full size, cardboard cutout of Edward. Just like ours that went to Twicon with us. We got to work early (her business is joined to my photography studio) and positioned Edward so he would be the first thing she would see when opening the back door. Karen also took a pair of purple thong panties, and used sparkle iron on crystals to write "Dazzle Me" on the front of them and we attached them to Edward's left hand. I then took a picture of Edward from the web, photoshopped her into it with him (along with a personal message assuring her that Edward thinks she still hot, sexy and flirty...even at 30), had it printed up and placed it with a large sucker that said "30 sucks" in Edwards right hand. We had planned all this for almost a month. All was going well, until the night before when I had a dream that we gave her a heart attack and she dropped her two year old daughter upon entering her business and seeing the silhoutte of a 6'1" man directly in front of her. Our revised plan included turning on the lights, and moving him far enough in that she would at least have time to set her child down!

Turns out our "I don't like surprises" friend loved her surprise. We all laughed until we cried at her shock at now being the proud owner of a life sized Edward.

The funniest part of this story was related to me at the end of the weekend. She took Edward home. Her husband told her she needed new friends. She placed Edward in her bedroom, he scared the shit out of her a couple of times...but then he showed up missing. She of course assumed her husband had had enough of looking at his competition and threw him out. She was wrong.

Her daughter, a little tiny thing even for a two year old, had come in and stolen him. She managed to drag him all the way to her play room at the end of the hall. She nows talks to him and plays with him all the time. She makes him tea. She tells him he is her friend. She also refuses to let her Mommy have him back. Wow...Edward seems to have a power over anyone female...no matter what the age.

Now we all laugh at how we have corrupted a two year old...and brought her over to the dark side!

New Moon Parody

Okay, so our kids have decided to spoof New Moon. Of course my daughter is Bella...and Karen's oldest son is Edward. Her younger son is to be the videographer. I think Twicon was a real inspiration for this endeavor!!! So they are VERY serious about this...well...at least my kid is! The boys are slightly embarrassed but being good sports. They are planning a garage sale to fund it too. After all...wigs and costumes don't come cheap! And I am NOT paying for all this. My daughter works..but after buying just the initial stuff for the movie poster she decided she doesn't want to pay for all of it either. So the script is being written...it will just be a little short parody..but its shaping up to be pretty funny. All of the principal cast has been selected...and we did the photo shoot last night to mock the movie poster. Isn't it cute!! I'll keep you posted!......

Robsten????

So we've never stated our opinions on REAl people who get to be Edward and Bella on the big screen for us. We are HUGE fans of the books. I actually started the series back in 2007 and was one of those poor souls forced to wait for Stephenie to come out with each new "fix" for our addiction. It took me awhile to convince Karen that she had to read those "vampire love" books...but with a little begging, bribery, etc...she caved and was instantly hooked. Yes, our drug of choice is highly addictive. So of course we went to the big midnight book release last August for Breaking Dawn...in fact, since we were on a joint family vacation in Garner (Texas) we had to drive all the way to San Antonio (over and hour and a half away) in order to get our books. Believe me we didn't mind. So we anticipated this movie like nothing else. We got our tickets as soon as it was possible to purchase them online. We waited at the movie theater for six hours in advance to ensure the perfect seats (halfway up / middle of the row...dead center of the screen!!!) The buildup was so huge, that our first viewing left us unsure how we felt. We critiqued it the whole way home. The pacing was off, the romance was rushed and therefore trivialized. The vampire makeup was mostly NOT so good. The meadow/sparkle scene was a letdown. BUT...we still loved it. Our story was there, in front of us, and we could capture it all in two hours. We of course went to see it again the next day. The second viewing was much improved. Each subsequent viewing got better. We realized that we could ignore what we didn't care for, and mentally fill in what we knew from the book really happened. The reason I think this was possible was because of Robert Pattinson and Kristin Stewart. We believed in them. We believed they loved. Okay...and they aren't hard on the eyes either. There is a tension between them that carried that movie. We believe that they are both really great actors...but...okay...we'll admit it...we also think it is real. Are we delusional fans wishing for a real life "Edward and Bella"? I don't know. Maybe. But honestly, I didn't decide they were fixated on each other until I started watching their interviews. They gravitate toward each other. Its cute. It reminds use of when we were younger (way younger!!!)...and had a thing for a particular guy and even though we tried so hard to play it cool...we were always hyper aware of where he was and what he was doing. They make each other smile. They make each other nervous. Its cute. So do we think they are a couple? Yep...I think something has been brewing since they met...and here lately with all the times they have been spotted together, without the cushion of the rest of the cast...it seems pretty obvious. Do we know for sure? Nope. But...I'd be highly surprised if they are not much much more than just friends. So, we support this union. We think they look cute together...and act even cuter. BUT...they sure as hell better not break up before they finish our movies!!! Please don't let them become complacent with each other...or worse...so that their chemistry falls flat. Come on guys!...make it work!!! well....at least until you finish shooting Breaking Dawn!

OKAY...our selfish little rant is over! Go "Robsten"!!!!!

Giddyup Ed !!

Have I mentioned how I have ruined my poor sweet little five year old daughter??? Oh yes, thanks to her mommy she is "unconditionally and irrevocably" in love with Twilight. She recently even acquired her own little Pocket Edward and Hideous Bella. She sleeps on a Twilight pillowcase. She watches the blu-ray almost every single day. She made me replay the newest New Moon trailer at least 10 times today on youtube. And she cried at Hot Topic when I explained that a Twilight lunchbox was not a good idea for Kindergarten. Yes, I take full blame...

On our recent vacation to Colorado, we decided to take our kids horseback riding. My oldest is quite the equestrian, as she had several years of lessons in the past...my middle child (the only boy) is also good in the saddle. He has ridden numerous times with friends. My youngest...well this would be her first time. I was nervous for her, but she was so excited! She loved it! And of course...much to the amusement of our guide...she wanted Pocket Edward to learn to ride too.

So we handed him up...but I'm sure you can guess the horse's reaction! His animal insticts kicked in...he wasn't too sure about letting a vampire take a ride! But eventually he calmed down and decided that since little Ed was only 7 inches tall, he was a manageable threat. We all had a great time, but we got so tired of hearing Pocket Edward complain about the pace! "YES, Edward...We all know you can run MUCH faster than the horses. Try to remember there are children here too! " He pouted a little, but got over it...and fun was had by all !!!!

After the trailride, my Hannah decided that she and her cousin Bella (well, second cousin actually..and yep...her name is really Bella!) needed to play with Pocket Edward and Hideous Bella for awhile. Bella is only three, but quite eager to join in this new fun. Her mother, who is actually MY cousin, Vickie, thinks we have lost our minds!!! She read the Twilight books (at my insistance)...and she liked them. She watched the movie, once it was out on DVD...and liked it. BUT...she is not obsessed... So she loves me...and tolerates my craziness...and secretly thinks I am a lunatic probably...but thats ok. I love her too! Wonder how long she'll still like me though if we have corrupted her only daughter?? ha!

Parting is such sweet sorrow...

Okay...this is my last "Twicon" post...well...maybe...depends on if I think of something else to write about it! But for now....here is my post about our last day in Dallas.

Sunday came all too soon. Time to pack up our room. Not an easy feat, when 5 women had been so busy with their Twilight obsession they chose not to worry about straightening up ANYTHING for four days. So...picked up dirty clothes off the floor (check!)...Scooped the 100 pounds of beauty products and paraphenalia off the bathroom counters (check!)...loaded up all our bags of Twicon acquired goodies (check!)...carefully, lovingly, place our little Pocket Edwards (and hideous Bella too) into their little travel case (check!)...snagged those AWESOME Twilight pillowcase off the beds (check!)...AND don't forget our big Edward cutout from in front of the window!!!! Oh yeah...it was just great waiting for our car at the valet station with an arm thrown around (hey! it was windy!!!) a 6'1" cardboard cutout of a brooding vampire. I'm sure no one even noticed...

So we fastened Edward's seatbelt (safety first!)...and headed home. My daughter had seriously missed out on her preferred 12 hours of sleep a night...so within the first hour she had laid over into Edward's lap and fallen asleep. Can you blame her? So he watched over her as she snoozed, and when we made our first bathroom/food stop...she awoke and looked up into his perfect face...CRAP...this sounds like some cheesy harlequin romance...She actually popped up when she felt the car come to a stop and yelled "About time! I have to pee...and we are going to get food, right???"

So Kayla and I went in to snag the food while Karen filled up the gas tank. Now while we were standing in line we kept noticing girls walking in and laughing. We also noticed men walking in shaking their heads in confusion. WTH???

And then we saw why. We walked outside to our parked vehicle...and saw him...Edward was obvioulsy needing a little fresh air so he had poked his head out the sunroof. Karen had moved him up to front seat (HEY! I thought I was the copilot!!!)....and stood him up and out into the dazzling sunlight. We doubled over laughing as we saw a girl and her boyfriend notice. She was saying "Oh my God! Its Edward !!!!" and he was saying "Holy S**t! There are bigger freaks than you. If you ever...(as he looked over at her with menace)" Yes thats us...freaks through and through!

So after that our trip home (about 5 hours!) was pretty uneventful...what could compare?

I have one more thing I would like to share...this past Monday, the Reelz channel had their special program they promised devoted entirely to Twicon coverage. We of course set the DVR to record it and enjoyed seeing all the places and events we had been a part of...but you should have heard the squealing when it got toward the end...Karen and Kayla ended up on TV!!! My personal contribution was only an offscreen and unmistakeable laugh! Jessica, the winner of the Reelz Channel contest was the interviewer...she had walked up to Karen and I when we were in line for the 100 monkeys autograph session and started asking us questions...and that was my cue to jump behind the nearest person to hide from her camera. NO WAY was I going to be that uneducated , ignorant, camera-hogging, southern-accented idiot that ALWAYS ends up telling their story on the evening news. NO THANK YOU! And Karen??? well...she has actually been on TV before for a news segment (long story)...and she still laughs at how she couldn't think of anything to say and instead just grinned big enough to show all her gums while she giggled like she was mentally challenged. But another very nice lady we had met, who was standing with us in line...had no such problems. She sweetly stepped forward and made polite and humorous answers for the crew and we were saved. But Karen is shown behind her left shoulder (grinning of course!) and my daughter Kayla is behind her right shoulder... in plain view...and even our other teen in our party (Kathryn) can been seen briefly at the left side of the screen. So naturally Kayla had to immediately text everyone she knew, update her facebook, twitter, and myspace within seconds...and squeal that she is now famous. Now she just wants to figure out how to copy that footage off of our DVR and onto her mac so she can put that on her facebook too...

Just my opinion!!!...AND PE serenades us!

Are you sick of my twicon coverage yet??? Sorry! Not quite done yet! We had way too much "TWILIGHTY" fun to not share it all! So here goes a little more...

So in a previous post I mentioned the "Hillywood Show" right? They are some kids from Vegas who do a really funny spoof of Twilight. Well, they actually spoof a lot of popular movies, but this was their ticket to recognition for sure. They have had almost 2 million hits of this spoof. They are currently working on a New Moon one too. Anyway, these kids were actually staying on our floor and frequently hung out in the lobby area too. They opened many of the Twicon functions and had a booth near the vendors so people could get autographs and pictures with them too. I think the thing that makes these kids stand out is their attention to detail, and their ability to stay in character. Girls (inlcuding the teens in our group!) treated them almost like they WERE Edward and Bella...and Alice and Jasper. They were practically mobbed at the Volturi Ball. Now I don't personally think they really look much like them, but the clothing, makeup, wigs, etc. make you see them as the characters. Ok, but back to their appearance at the ball..."Alice" and "Jasper" came dressed for the prom. Alice's dress was just as Stephenie Meyer herself described it on her site. "Bella" and "Edward" decided to come dressed from the horrible cover of Entertainment Weekly last year! Did you see it? It was BEYOND awful. Well, actually Bella looked pretty, but Edward looked like a pasty creeper who want to befriend little boys! The makeup, the clothes, the dirty fingernails, but most especially the AWFUL hair (usually a fave) just couldn't have been worse. Now it was the first "Twilight" cover on a major publication. Most people still didn't "get it"...obviously Entertainment Weekly didn't back then! So...in conclusion (at least on this subject)...while I appreciate your attention to detail guys...next time choose a better "theme" for your ball appearance!

In my desire to post so much about our Twicon experience, I seem to have neglected the real reason behind this blog. Yes we love us some twilight. Yes I will always post random twilight things that catch my attention...BUT we are supposed to be all about our little Pocket Edward (hence the name, right???) So for our main "little" man...I'm including these great photos of him we took before a musical performance began. Yes...we were the crazies that ran up front, pulled out our dollie, and started snapping away while the audience cracked up and waited for the real show to begin! But wow...can he play that piano!

Twicon...a little bit more....

Just a few more pics...and "happenings" from our weekend...

Did you know nice hotels will actually let you decorate the doors?? No?....ME EITHER !!! But right down the hall we saw the cute little decorated door...obvioulsy these girls were there for the same reason we were! Also, did you know we ordered adorably cute, hand painted converse for Twicon??? WE DID ! They are awesome. Something I would never ever NEVER wear to work, shopping, taking kids to school...etc etc....BUT perfect for bizarre out-of-town conventions with thousands of crazily obsessed women, oh yeah...and for midnight releases of certain LOVED movie sagas! If your non-twilighty friends see them...you will never again convince them you are a sane, rational, or mature woman...EVER AGAIN! And...did you know Hot Topic ( A highly embarrassing retail chain that I unsuccessfully try to avoid, yet seem inexplicably drawn to, due to their much wanted merchandise! ugh!) sells Twilight pillowcases. Did you know these aforementioned pillowcases can cause your hotel maids to fall into fits of laughter...especially when your suite boasts FOUR of them. Trust! Did you know that even vendors, at a TWILIGHT convention will laugh nervously when you tell them that you NEED to take a picture of your Pocket Edward, for a REAL blog...with their table display? True Story. We lived it. Learn from it. Laugh at us...its okay...we do...

Edward was our DATE !!!

So this is way embarrassing...but yes, Edward was our date to the Volturi Ball. As previously mentioned he made the road trip to Dallas with us (also scared the crap out of us a couple of times!)...but his real purpose on this trip was to be our MAN. Yes, we were at a convention with 2495 other women...okay, maybe a couple of them were guys, but I still think they were Team Edward so they don't count !!

So, we got all gussied up....(does anyone say that anymore???) and took our pictures with our date. I of course covered the faces of our teenage girls (my daughter (the shortest !!) , niece, and a friend)...not too comfortable with posting their pictures on the web though I know for sure they all have facebooks with their images plastered all over them!!! But Karen said I had to include our faces in our picture. CRAP! Never like my pictures...so I'm sure you can guess which one I am if you don't know me...since Karen always looks CUTE! Oh well....

Pictures from the Volturi Ball...

Here are some random pictures from the Volturi Ball from last Saturday at Twicon...

Twicon Day Three (Last REAL day...boo!)

So...Saturday was day 3...still chaotic, everything started late, lines too long, disorganized, clueless (often rude) staff...

Wow...okay sounds like our trip sucked, right? It so did not !!!! We had a blast. We enjoyed ourselves so much. Yes, the event should have been better organized and we were somewhat disappointed in that...but we definitely don't regret our little getaway! We laughed and relaxed and did whatever we wanted for 4 days. No work...No responsibilities...and 2500 other women who are as obsessed as we are! AWESOME!!

Okay...back to our day...the highlight of Saturday was definitely the Q&A session with the cast. Wish we were closer...wish it lasted longer...wish they'd had better questions...BUT...great fun. It was so neat to see the actors and hear their un-edited responses. Peter Facinelli is hilarious. I had always heard that, but it is so true. Everyone was great, but the obvious comraderie (especially between he and Jackson) was beautiful to behold. Peter tries to make everyone feel comfortable and easily fills any awkward silences. Jackson is charming. Kellan Lutz is like a cute kid that know you'll forgive anything he does. Billy Burke is funny by being the "laid back" dude. Alex Meraz looked completely overwhelmed by the "crowd of crazies". Christian Serratos was relatively quiet. But wow...how exciting to actually see the people you watched dozens (okay, maybe hundreds...) of times on screen. They were very gracious. Wow....look MOM! your lessons in good manners stuck....I said "gracious"!

Saturday evening was the Volturi Ball. The final "formal" event. We had fun dressing up and taking our pictures in our room with our Edward cutout. I'm sure the other guests in the hotel were a little freaked out by all the strange costumed women heading over to the ballroom! We saw a little bit of everything! Masks, capes, formals....obviously...but also giant wings, pirates, and outfits that would make most people blush! We saw several people with REAL Twilight tattoos! Wow...that is dedicated! We mingled...took lots of pictures...but left pretty early. The music and food were good, but again...poor planning...not nearly enough table or chairs. HUNDREDS of people were standing in every available space. Some had to stand outside the ballroom it was so crowded!

So our big night out ended with out party (3 adults / 3 teenagers!) going back to our room, ordering pizza, and giggling and talking (slumber party style) until 3 am...mostly about Twilight of course!!! As I said earlier...we had fun!
